Qualifying Candidate Letter for 2025 Elections

Congratulations on your decision to become a candidate for the Municipal General Election on November 4, 2025. The enclosed is information that will aid you in the process. Should you have any questions, we will make every effort to assist you.

 

However, it is imperative that you visit the State Ethics Commission website @ http://ethics.ga.gov to inquire and/or familiarize yourself with what is required of you as a candidate. Also, two other tools of reference are Georgia Municipal Association, https://www.gacities.com and a candidate training guide is available on the Secretary of State’s website: https://sos.ga.gov/candidate-resouces-qualifying-public-office DO NOT campaign or collect campaign funds until you have read necessary materials on these websites. There are forms that are necessary for processing prior to doing so.

 

The packet consists of the following items:

1.  Declaration of Intent form – to be filed with the municipal filing clerk prior to collecting any contributions (new candidates only. Incumbents only need file one for the stay in office). https://ethics.ga.gov/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/2020_FormDOI-rev-2.12.2020-LOCAL.pdf

2. Notice of Candidacy and Affidavit. (Due and accepted only during the hours of qualifying: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. August 18-20, 2025, August 21, 2025 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Board of Election office, 96 Academy Avenue).
