2024 Qualifying Information
Qualifying Candidate Letter for 2024 Elections

Congratulations on running for office in Dawson County. Below is information that will help you through the qualifying process. However, it is imperative that you visit the State Ethics Commission website @ www.ethics.ga.gov to inquire and/or familiarize yourself with what is required of you as a candidate. It is strongly advised to attend a training class.

Also, candidate information is available on the Secretary of State’s website http://sos.ga.gov. DO NOT campaign or collect campaign funds until you have read necessary materials on these websites. Due to the recent changes in ethics reporting, there are updates and changes in the forms that are required for filing.
This packet consists of the following items:

Candidate letter and 2024 Calendar of Elections:

Declaration of Candidacy and Affidavit. (Due and accepted only during the hours of qualifying:
March 4-7, 2024 9 a.m-5 p.m. daily; March 8, 2024 9 a.m. to noon. You must qualify with a party, unless you run as an independent). Parties are present at the Board of Elections office.

Easy Campaign Portal registration and filing instructions (next page). Forms below are filed through the portal:

DOI form = Declaration of Intention to Accept Campaign Contributions (This must be filed with the
Election Superintendent prior to any monies being received/spent to support your campaign). At the point of filing, begins responsibility for any ethics campaign reporting.

RC form = Registration Form for a Campaign Committee for Use by Candidate (if applicable)

Campaign Contribution Disclosure Report(s). (This will need to be completed by every candidate,
regardless of the outcome of the election. See the dates of filing listed on report.)

Financial Disclosure Statement. (Must be filed no later than the fifteenth day after the day you qualify).

Contact County/City planning department for current sign ordinances.
Also, please advise during qualifying if there is particular information that you prefer not be made available to the public within the requirements of the law (ie: home telephone number, etc).
